Session Details

Locations

  • Common locations are urban downtown areas, industrial areas, fields, parks, old barns, beaches, and even your school if I can get access.

  • If there is a location you have in mind make sure you share it with me in the pre-consultation, otherwise I can suggest locations based on your preference.

  • Good light can make even the most mundane of locations beautiful. Which is why I only shoot close to sunset.

Weather

  • We will shoot in most weather, but if rain or extreme wind make that impossible I will schedule a rain date asap.

  • For Saturday sessions all rain dates will be on Sunday evenings

What to bring

  • Outfits with shoes and appropriate undergarments that work with the outfits

  • Any hair or makeup that you might need for touchups like lip gloss

  • Feel free to bring any props that represent you! This is not mandatory, but it can make for some fun unique shots.

  • Ideas are sunglasses, hats, sporting equipment/jerseys, musical instruments, flowers, books if you are a reader, etc. Feel free to be creative! If you are bringing sporting equipment/jerseys, musical instruments, books, or something of that nature try to mention that in the pre-consultation so I can be prepared with some ideas of how to use them. No need to pre-warn about sunglasses or hats :)

  • If you have poses you know you want, bring those with you, and even better, text me those before your session.

  • Cost needs to be fully paid to start session. Venmo, Paypal, or cash are accepted.

What to wear

  • Do not feel like you need to dress up if that’s not your thing; dressy or casual is great, and a mix is even better. I want you to be comfortable and feel like yourself!  If senior and parent don’t agree on clothing try to compromise so that the senior has some choices and parent has some choices.  The more comfortable the senior feels the better the photos will turn out.

  • If you wear a dress, dresses that twirl and have movement are better than a slim-fitting dress

  • Pops of color photograph well; this could be in your clothing or accessories. I recommend staying away from a lot of black, as it often loses detail in photos. Don’t shy away from fun outfits and patterns!

  • Keep the locations you chose in mind when choosing outfits, I can also help with this

  • Don’t forget accessories like necklaces, bracelets, earrings, watches (more for a guy), rings

  • Make sure your nails are how you want them, as they will show in some of the images, this includes your toes if you do a beach session, as you will likely be barefoot.

  • If you wear nail polish, make sure it works for all outfits (nails and toes)

  • I will bring a large towel that I can hold up for changing outfits, or you will have to change in the car, as some locations may not have a bathroom nearby

  • I highly recommend texting me your outfit choices prior to your session, so I can make suggestions if needed

  • Make sure you have shoes that match each outfit unless you are going barefoot

  • Some clothing store suggestions for girls are: Altar’d State, Dry Goods, Old Navy, Free People, Francesca’s, boutique stores downtown Holland, American Eagle, Hollister, Target, TJ Maxx, Aeropostale

  • Some clothing store suggestions for boys are: American Eagle, Hollister, Old Navy, Target, Aeropostale

After your session

  • I often will post a 1-3 image preview within days of your session on Instagram, but full galleries will be 2-4 weeks. Please let me know if you prefer me not to post a preview.

  • Once your gallery is sent you can download all the images from the gallery. If you wish to order prints through me that will also be an option through your gallery. You can also share your password protected gallery with friends and family.
